NEW YEAR'S EVE IN SLOVENIA
Slowenien Discovery
The 2024/2025 winter season marked a turning point for Snowflow Travel:
For 25 years, our main winter travel destination had been our neighboring country, Austria, and for over 20 years we had regularly visited the Christianhof in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. The skyrocketing prices of ski passes and mountain huts in Austria had prompted us to try something new: the Slovenia Discovery.
This exploratory tour was a complete success!!!
We are delighted to report the following:
We have found a charming, rustic, and cozy house that will once again be available to us. And exclusively for our group—we have the entire house to ourselves!!
The on-site kitchen team will once again prepare us for the slopes in the morning with a stunning breakfast, and in the evening we’ll be treated to hearty, traditional local fare.
The house also features a wellness area, its own huge fitness studio, and a sauna—all included in the trip price!!
Double rooms for a bit more privacy are available in limited quantities for an additional fee.
Accommodations and Arrival/Departure
Our accommodation is nestled between three different ski resorts: Kope, Golte, and Rogla. Ski pass prices are a bit cheaper than in Austria, and while there are fewer kilometers of slopes, who really needs 300 kilometers or more??
Depending on snow and weather conditions, we’ll decide on the spot each day which ski resort to visit. However, the plan is to explore a different ski resort every day, so there’s certainly no chance of getting bored.
Unlike our previous trips, the accommodation isn’t right on the slopes. To get to the individual ski resorts easily, we’ll need cars or minibuses.
We therefore plan to form carpools for the round trip (Berlin–Slovenia–Berlin) so that we can get around easily once we’re there. Alternatively, you can also travel by train; the nearest station is “Velenje.”
Ski resort
Of course, the (relatively smaller) ski resorts mentioned above—Kope, Golte, and Rogla—can’t compete with the famous mega-resorts in Austria, Switzerland, or France.
But that’s not what we’re after. We’d like to discover something new and off-the-beaten-path, explore Slovenia—still a somewhat exotic Alpine winter destination—and save a little money in the process.
Above all, the focus should once again be on the shared winter sports experience:
whether you’re a skier or a snowboarder, a beginner or a pro, we’re all united by our fascination with snow-covered mountains and the consistently amazing experience of being able to let loose all day in the snow and on the slopes, then falling into bed at night happy, content, and pleasantly exhausted!
